Medicaid Waiver Services In Pennsylvania

Most people as they age prefer to stay home, and most families would like them to stay at home as long as possible. Families in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and specifically in York County are fortunate that the state has a very robust Medicaid waiver program.

Pennsylvania-40430_640This program often allows individuals who need skilled level care to stay in their home, and not have to go into a nursing facility. The program accepts Medicaid and payment coming from medical assistance to pay for the waiver services in the home. We have clients who receive anywhere from 12 hours a day of care up to 22 hours a day of care. (The amount of care that you receive depends on how much care you will need in the home).

To be eligible for the Medicaid waiver program, an applicant must apply for Medicaid, and must be both medically and financially qualified for skilled nursing level of care, just as they would to receive Medicaid for nursing home care. However, they would receive the appropriate care in their own home, thus honoring their wishes while at the same time assuring that they receive the required level of care in their home and keeping them safe.
