In a recent episode of The Red Wagon Club podcast, Jeff Bellomo sat down with Julie Cassaday, a certified life coach and Level II Reiki Healer, to explore personal growth, effective communication, and the critical role of caregiving. Julie’s passion for helping others stems from her professional journey and personal experiences, making her insights invaluable for those seeking empowerment and balance.
Clearing the Path to Personal Growth
Julie shared the inspiration behind her coaching business, Tanglewood Life Coaching. The name reflects her mission: helping individuals overcome the mental and emotional obstacles that hold them back. With a background in mass communications and organizational training, Julie found her true calling in guiding people toward becoming the best versions of themselves.
After spending 30 years in sales, Julie made a bold career shift to pursue life coaching full-time. Her decision was driven by a desire to connect deeply with others and facilitate meaningful change in their lives. She now leads workshops, webinars, and retreats focused on communication, leadership, and personal development.
The Caregiving Connection
Julie’s journey as a caregiver for both of her parents, who suffered from dementia, profoundly shaped her career path. This experience introduced her to the Alzheimer’s Association and eventually led her to Reiki healing, which she now integrates into her coaching practice. Recognizing the immense physical, emotional, and financial burden caregivers face, Julie has become a strong advocate for those who dedicate their lives to caring for loved ones.
During the conversation, Julie and Jeff highlighted the increasing number of dementia cases in people under 65. This troubling trend raises serious concerns, making it even more critical to offer support and resources for caregivers. Julie’s work aims to empower them with tools to manage stress, find balance, and prioritize their well-being while caring for others.
Coaching for a Stronger Future
Julie explained that life coaching is about meeting people where they are today, identifying their goals, and reminding them of their core strengths. Whether through private coaching sessions or corporate training, she helps individuals and organizations develop better communication skills and a growth mindset. Her work extends beyond one-on-one coaching, as she frequently speaks at employee development programs and conferences, offering both structured and customized training sessions.
