Learning Never Ends – OLLI at Penn State York

Residents in York County, Pennsylvania are fortunate to have a unique learning experience available to them. The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Penn State York is a program geared to retired people, but anyone may participate. The program includes short course presentations on a wide range of topics, a book club, film viewings, and excursions. There are even live performance offerings in conjunction with York Symphony Orchestra.

Screen Shot 2018-08-13 at 6.16.59 PMOLLI is described as “…a volunteer-driven organization established to enrich the lives of mature adults living in York County by providing a variety of educational and social activities that accentuate the joy of learning and personal fulfillment.” This program is a result of three retired women who were concerned about the lack of opportunities for intellectual and cultural stimulation in York, so they approached administrators at Penn State York to discuss options. Many activities are now available for a very minimal fee and, if that is an issue, funds are available by contacting the OLLI office. The goal is to encourage community participation in the program.

I am pleased to be part of the upcoming OLLI Fall 2018 Session. My presentation is titled “Tax Planning with Long-Term Care Planning” and is scheduled from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 16, 2018. Many people do not consider the impact of potential long-term care issues when doing tax or estate planning. As a certified elder law attorney, I believe that educating others about these issues is an important part of my practice.

I encourage you to get more details about the OLLI program by clicking here now and consider joining or registering for an activity or presentation that appeals to you. The deadline for registering for the courses or activities is THIS FRIDAY, August 17, 2018. Hope to see you there!
